As the leaves turn amber and the weather gets cooler, there’s another seasonal change that happens like clockwork every year – flavoured hot drinks appear on coffee-shop menus!
While we all love a latte, sprinkles, syrup shots and creamy toppings can turn a simple coffee into a not-so-slimming coffee shop shocker.
At Slimming World, we make it easy to enjoy a delicious coffee break and still get a brew-tiful weight loss. Come along to your local group or join Slimming World Online and you’ll get strategies to help you fill your cup the slim-safe way. Our members can also use the Food Search tool to look up the latest coffee shop drops, including the cakes that tempt you while you queue!
Of course, making your own hot drinks is a great way to protect your weight loss and save money while you slim. We’ve got two new recipes so you can sip away in the comfort of your own home – they’re pour-fect for pepping up your day!
Slimming World pumpkin spice latte
Our cosy cuppa saves up to 20 Syns on the coffee-shop version.
serves 1
3½ Syns per serving
ready in 5 mins
What you need:
instant coffee granules, to taste (or made-up filter coffee, if you prefer)
150ml skimmed milk
½ tsp vanilla extract
1 tsp home-made pumpkin spice mix (recipe here)
3 level tbsp reduced-fat aerosol cream
1 level tsp maple syrup
cinnamon stick (optional)
What you do:
1. Put your usual amount of instant coffee granules in your widest mug, pour in boiling water to about one-third of the way up and stir well (if you’re using filter coffee, just fill one-third of the mug with it).
2. Microwave the milk until hot and add to the coffee, then stir in the vanilla extract and the spice mix. If you have a milk frother, give some or all of the milk a quick froth first.
3. Spoon the aerosol cream onto your latte and drizzle over the maple syrup. Pop in your cinnamon stick stirrer, if you have one, and enjoy!
