We do it a whopping 48 hours a year – and even at work! That’s right, we love talking about food! A poll of 2,000 adults* revealed seven in 10 discuss what they’re having for dinner for an average of eight minutes a day, with 21% saying they chat about their evening meal with work colleagues every day.

More than six in 10 of those polled say they’re ‘food lovers’ – and we definitely feel the same. Our flexible eating plan, Food Optimising, makes losing weight easy and enjoyable. There’s no calorie counting or deprivation – just delicious everyday foods!

Discover the joy of Food Optimising

Whatever’s on your winning menu, you never have to miss out as a Slimming World member. Our no-hunger Food Optimising plan fits around you – your family, your preferences, your real life. You absolutely can lose weight while socialising, sharing meals with friends and family, and eating the food you love!

A separate One Poll member survey of Slimming World members** found that:

  • 89% love losing weight while getting all the nutrients they need.
  • more than three-quarters (77%) now make healthy, nutritious, filling meals that the whole family enjoy
  • 76% feel proud that they’re passing on healthy habits to their families

Carolyn Pallister, registered dietitian and head of nutrition, research and health at Slimming World, says: “There’s nothing quite like sharing a meal with friends or family, and for many of us, life just wouldn’t be the same without it. Sitting down to eat with others creates connections and builds relationships – that’s why food is at the centre of so many big events in our lives.”

The survey findings also revealed that despite more weight loss drugs being available now, 69% of adults surveyed say they’d be unlikely to take them. Of those, 25% say it’s because they don’t want to change the way they eat, drink and socialise; 21% worry they wouldn’t be getting the nutrition they need for good health, and 20% say they love their food too much.

“I thought losing weight meant losing joy – I was wrong”

Kim Quigley lost 9st 10lbs (61.7kg) with Slimming World, without missing out on family life or socialising. She says:

“I so desperately wanted to lose weight, and came across all sorts of quick fixes and weight loss drugs. While they work for some people, I was worried about how they might affect my health. Plus, I’ve always loved food and sharing meals with my family, so I didn’t want to change my appetite.

Getting my health back, and dropping from a size 22 to a 12, has changed my life – without stopping my life with family and friends. There’s no going back for me!”
