Slimming World and Iceland introduce more mouth-watering meals for Autumn/Winter
Slimming World, the UK’s favourite weight loss organisation, has worked with Iceland Foods to create a brand-new selection of delicious, healthy frozen ready meals, sauces and soups to strengthen its record-breaking food range developed in partnership with the leading frozen food retailer.
Exclusively available in Iceland stores across the UK and online at www.iceland.co.uk now, the 13 new additions are packed with delicious, comforting ingredients that are perfect for this time of year. The seven new ready meals include Cottage pie, Chicken saag and Three-bean and roasted vegetable chilli, plus soups such as Spicy lentil and Tomato and basil as well as tasty cooking sauces join the range.
The success of the Slimming World range, which arrived in Iceland stores in February this year, has seen a record-breaking number of meals and meat products – meatballs, sausages and burgers – purchased by Slimming World members as well as shoppers who simply want to eat more healthily.
Allison Brentnall, Slimming World Food & Publications Manager, says: “Cooking from scratch at home with healthy ingredients will always remain at the heart of Slimming World’s Food Optimising eating plan*. However, we do understand that sometimes in the real world there are times when you are just too busy and it’s not always possible to create healthy, filling meals from scratch. What we’ve developed with Iceland is a back-up plan for exactly those times.
“Now our members can enjoy a nutritious, balanced meal ready to cook straight from the freezer in minutes, instead of opting for something that doesn’t fill them up or give them the best weight loss results. Our members have told us that these meals are ‘lifesavers’ and help them to stay on track when they might have struggled before, plus because they’re tasty as well as healthy they’re popular with the whole family.”
Made with premium quality, natural ingredients, the Slimming World meals at Iceland are different from other so-called ‘diet’ foods. Each one is generously portioned (up to 550g), delicious and supremely satisfying. The meals feature the recipe on the packaging enabling shoppers to make the dish at home themselves when they have more time, too.
Our members have told us that these meals are ‘lifesavers’
Salt, fat and sugar levels are carefully balanced, and herbs and spices from around the globe deliver plenty of taste. What’s more, the #PowerofFrozen enables Iceland to lock in nutrients and flavour, preserving the ingredients at their peak, delivering a product that is fresher than fresh.
The range complements Slimming World’s Food Optimising eating plan which encourages members to eat satisfying everyday foods, known as Free Foods, which are naturally lower in energy density (calories per gram) and include fruit and veg, pasta, rice, potatoes, lean meat, fish, poultry, eggs, fat-free dairy and more. As well as picking up their Slimming World ready meals, sauces and soups, Iceland shoppers can also stock up on plenty of essential Free Foods including lean chicken breasts, North Atlantic prawns and frozen fruit and veg.
The full Slimming World range now includes 15 ready meals, four meat products, four soups and two sauces. Ready meals and meat products are priced £3/€3.75 and the sauces and soups are £1.50/€2 each. The new additions are on sale in Iceland stores from today (October 7th) in the UK and October 10th in the Republic of Ireland.
Slimming World was founded by Margaret Miles-Bramwell (OBE, FRSA) in 1969. There are now more than 18,000 groups held weekly across the UK and Republic of Ireland via a network of 4,000 community-based Slimming World Consultants, who receive specific training in the role of diet and physical activity in weight management, as well as sophisticated behaviour-change techniques.
Slimming World’s healthy eating plan, Food Optimising, is based on the science of satiety and energy density. Our phased activity programme, Body Magic, eases members into activity until it becomes an intrinsic part of their daily routine. The principles behind Slimming World’s philosophy are based on a deep understanding of the challenges faced by overweight people and a recognition that those who struggle with weight carry a double burden, the weight itself and a burden of guilt and shame about their weight. Slimming World’s programme integrates practical, up-to-date advice with a highly developed support system based on care and compassion, and Consultant training focuses on facilitating behaviour change in a warm and friendly group environment. Consultant training is delivered through the Slimming World Academy. Slimming World also invests in a comprehensive research programme to develop its support for long-term weight management. The group support provided by Slimming World is recognised as effective by the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) and the NHS.
