Double win: Slimming World Magazine takes home two prestigious awards
Slimming World Magazine has scooped two awards in a week – including seeing editor Sara Ward named Editor of the Year.
The popular title took home the award for Consumer Publication of the Year at the Professional Publishers’ Association (PPA) Independent Publisher Awards, and Sara was crowned Editor of the Year in the Sport, Health and Fitness category by the British Society of Magazine Editors (BSME).
The PPA Awards celebrate individuals and companies in the magazine industry who have delivered new and innovative standout work and have made a difference in their sector over the last year. This latest win is the 12th publishing award that the magazine has won – including winning Customer Magazine of the Year and Consumer Magazine of the Year at the same awards in 2020 and 2021.
Editor Sara says: “It’s a huge honour to have won these awards, especially given the amount of talent we were up against in each category. A highlight for me was the BSME judges’ comments describing Slimming World Magazine as a beacon of inspiration, as that’s absolutely what we strive to be.”
The annual BSME awards ceremony – which is known as the Oscars of the magazine world – celebrates editorial excellence and innovation across the industry, in both print and digital publications.
Sara says: “Our whole team is brilliant and they couldn’t deserve this more. They put Slimming World members at the heart of everything we do and we’re especially proud of our storytelling this year, showing the authentic experience of healthy weight loss – and importantly weight maintenance – in words and pictures. We’ve also provided our readers with the most delicious slimming recipes in the market, not to mention ever deeper levels of holistic health and psychological insight in our Mind, Body & Soul section.
“We’re committed to showing people that weight loss doesn’t have to be dull or uninspiring and it is possible to eat the foods you love, live a life you love and still lose weight.”
Slimming World Magazine features real-life success stories sourced from Slimming World members – including its cover stars, a delicious food section in which all ideas are designed to support Slimming World’s Food Optimising healthy eating plan, practical weight-loss advice and features showcasing the organisation’s wealth of unique expertise in behaviour change and the psychology of weight loss.
